Hornet Nest through Eletroforming
This is the beginning of a wax model of a hornets nest that I carved from microcrystalline wax. The wax was formed into strips, fused together and sculpted.
Interior detail of the hornets nest wax carving.
After being in the bath for a week, the copper hornets nest is finished electroforming. The top supports were cut off and the entire piece was put in hot water to melt the wax out of the piece, to create a strong, lightweight form. The next steps are to create the branch to hold the nest and the bronze hornets that will be on the sculpture.
